A specialist IT company that provides cloud-based recruitment software for the care industry and its providers is keen to explore how prevalent neglect is following reports of serious mistreatment in an Oxfordshire care home.
The incidents that took place at Winterbrook Nursing Home in Wallingford have resulted in three nurses being charged with the ill-treatment of residents within a care home, sparking further concerns that the care industry is rife with unqualified and unethical staff that are unable to carry out their job roles properly.
At present, a number of care homes up and down the country are being put into special measures by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
When a care home is put into special measures, it means that the standard of care they provide has been deemed to be inadequate. A specific timeframe will be laid out within which they provider will need to improve its services before further action, including cancelling of the facilities registration, is taken.
